Green Manufacturing
Lean is Green. Earth-kind utilizes LEAN principals to continually identify and eliminate waste. As waste is eliminated, quality improves while production time and raw material costs are reduced. This cycle never ends and we challenge ourselves to continually eliminate waste. In a recently completed a BEES analysis from the University of Iowa, our footprint here at Earth-Kind was found to be 98% carbon free.
Earth-Kind eliminates waste in these ways:
- Just-In-Time (JIT) Manufacturing
- Minimizing defects throughout the manufacturing process
- Reduce Work-In-Process (WIP)
- Reduce changeovers (Green)
- Packaging designed to reduce waste
- Working towards a goal of zero virgin packaging materials (difficult, but not insurmountable)
Earth-Kind uses raw materials sourced from manufacturers who believe that they have a responsibility to be good stewards to the Earth.
Examples of this stewardship from our vendors include:
- Utilizing suppliers that manufacture using 100% wind power.
- Use of recycled packaging
- Use of agricultural-based inks
- Commitment to sustainability now and into the future
Our ingredients come from the Earth. Earth-Kind reduces its ecological footprint by minimizing its waste stream in the manufacturing process. We utilize reusable and recyclable shipping containers for all of our raw materials so very few items are put into the landfill. Earth-Kind is proud that our product is not harmful to the environment like pesticides and moth balls and that our products can be disposed of in landfills without concern of a toxic legacy that will harm future generations.
