February 29, 2012 (Bismarck, ND)– Local pest management professional Kari Warberg Block met with Senator John Hoeven(R); and Congressman Rick Berg (R), all of North Dakota, representing the pest management industry on February 28 in Washington, D.C. During the legislative briefings, Ms. Block heard from former RNC Chair and Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour and Clinton aide and Fox commentator, Dick Morris.
Kari Warberg Block, CEO of Earth-Kind, Bismarck, ND, visited Senator Hoeven, and Representative Berg on Capitol Hill during Legislative Day, an annual event coordinated by the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) that brings together pest management professionals and their legislators to talk about critical issues, such as managing pests in schools and other settings. Earth-Kind is a member of the NPMA, which represents the $6B pest management industry on legislative and regulatory initiatives at the federal and state levels. Earth-Kind was named a 2011 Top 10 Green America People's Choice Award Finalist.
“Discussing issues with federal lawmakers is key to solving issues that affect the entire country,” says Warberg Block. “More importantly, such meetings and interaction give us a chance to address specific issues pertinent to our own community and customers. As a pest management professional and a concerned citizen, I look forward to the chance to make a difference.”
While meeting with Senator Hoeven and Congressman Berg and their staffs, Kari Warberg Block discussed the unintended consequences of new proposed Federal EPA regulation on small business, innovation and entrepreneurship.
The NPMA, a non-profit organization with more than 7,000 members, was established in 1933 to support the pest management industry’s commitment to the protection of public health, food and property - reflected both in the continuing education of the pest control professional and the dissemination of timely information to homeowners and businesses. The NPMA is comprised of pest management companies, distributors and manufacturers. For more information, visit www.npmapestworld.org.
